I know it's recession and we're badly hit...

.....but could I have more caviar, please? I love it! Yummy!

And there might be a genetic mutation, she dived in a deep swamp when it feels like -8C outside! She must believe herself to be a fish :)))

Happy 18 months Bday sweet princess Emma!

Our little princess Emma is celebrating today with style! She had an improvised bar:

She had received a present earlier (ok, before midnight...)

And this is how she took a nap, she hugged her new toy:

Emma for President!

My political statement:
1.You can always meet the president (me) and pet the president! You cannot say that about the other candidates!
2.Stress will be reduced after spending time with me, it's a proven fact!
3. We can always have fun together. Kids can run with me, so they will be healthier!

...............................

As you know people here are electing today a new president. Hopefully a new one, I can't stand the monkey who is president now. He is totally irresponsible, a dictator who laid off the government twice, and threatened to do the same with the parliament. And people live under the illusion he fights corruption. Well he isn't, he is extremely corrupted.

PS. the photo is from last year's Christmas, not from this year. As you can see, I was a puppy then. Just 6 months old :)

Wow, I just realized something

On June 29th I posted I was 54 cm at withers. In September before Pitesti Dog Show mom measured me and I was 55. I GREW for sure!

It may not be too much, but please keep in mind my parents were desperate. At 6 months, when I was really sick, I went to the vet for emergency (throwing up and diarrhea) and I was given a shot that prevented my growth for 3 months! I was stuck at 47 cm at withers for those 3 months, and and mom kept wishing I grew to reach at least 51 cm (minimum for the standard). So I hope everyone understands the thrill :)

Standard says 51-56 cm for bitches :)

Dear Emma

Dear Emma,

You know you are our sweet little princess, and we love you incredibly much. You have your own human bed, you can have the sofa if you hate your beds, but please, can we have our bed back? Last night you sneaked in our bed again (you were comfortably sleeping on the sofa), and 20 minutes later you took almost all bed. You woke up daddy and I had to drag you on my side. And that was not enough, you rested your legs on me. I suspect it was more than legs judging from the muscle ache I have.

So dear sweetheart, do you think you can stop spreading your "tentacles" all over our bed?

Love,
Mom and Dad

Printing job

Well mom and dad had something (ok a LOT) to print. Of course, my curiosity kicked in as always so I checked every single thing they did.

After a while I got so bothered with printing, it is not fun at all, that I went to grab my pink ball. I threw it for myself, fetched it, too. So I developed a new concept: training myself for fetching hehe. It's not the first time I do it, either ;)

Mom, let me sleep! Ep 2

Oh well...
First I slept on the sofa (sorry, no photos) and daddy turned on the TV for me. Animal Planet, of course, because I love watching animals. OR sleep :)
Then I moved and decided sleeping under curtains would be fun. But of course mom thought it would be such a great idea to take a photo of me.

Stop using the flashlight, please. Now what????

Oh well, back to sleep, no fun being bothered

If I think better, the bed is much better than sleeping on the floor. Especially that I have it only for myself. Dad saw me and turned the TV on for me in the bedroom this time.

Mom, let me sleep!

After spending two days at my grandparents again, I figured the best place to sleep in my bed...erm our bed...erm that is where I sleep at night with my parents.

But I usually sleep in my human bed or the couch, not in the bedroom. Mom thought I was so cute she decided to wake me up by taking photos and using the flash light:

Back to sleep, I cannot be bothered!

PS I am NOT allowed to sleep on my grandparents' bed, so each time I come home from them I jump in the bed!

A short holiday at my grandparents!

Grandma and grandpa love me so much that they had to beg to have me for a few days. I know mom and dad will go nuts without me, last time they couldn't sleep without me in the house! But I love being at their place so off I went with grandpa.

As soon as he arrived I even sang to him, that's how happy I was to see him. Apart from jumping around with happiness and following him everywhere. I just know I will have lots of fun at their place! Aaaand I will be spoiled beyond belief, but that's normal for me, I am the princess of both households hehe.

Field trial v1, Emma's rules

Last evening we spent a great deal outside, as usual. It was already very dark when Emma suddenly came very proud to me! Tail wagging, oh well...extremely happy to show me something. Much to my horror, she had a pigeon wing in her mouth. I had been warned there was a dead pigeon somewhere in the bushes, so it was just a matter of time till Emma got there. Her senses are to the extreme, she can trace something from a significant distance. Wing removed from her mouth (I made her spit it out, my choice was NOT to touch the wing). She reluctantly did so, and wanted to get it back as soon as she spit it. Cody, a Labrador pup wanted it also!

If there is something worth finding, she does so. I.e. dead stuff, ...

Brandusa Gheorghiu, great judge

I was saying some time ago that I felt terrible for missing her judging the Golden Retriever show ring, because she is an amazing judge. A true lady, she spent time with owners and talked about their dogs, explained in detail her decisions.

When I saw that she will second Miss Anca Giura I was so happy and impressed! Two top judges in a show ring, that is something!

Thank you both for the wonderful time we had at the show! I sure hope we shall meet again :)

Anca Giura, a wonderful judge

I noticed some people complained about the fact that she talks to the owners. But that is normal, people love to hear insight from one of the best judges there are. She is a true lady and the only thing I regret is not taking a photo with her and Emma. I hope to see her more in our show rings, she is a judge mostly invited in other countries.

Happy Birthday, grandma!

Wove youuuuu. It's great to have such wonderful grandparents who love me so much. I admit I am an extremely spoiled pup.

New "adventures"

We are glad we could make it home :D
Yesterday morning, at 5 am we went to Pitesti CAC - dog show. In Bucharest traffic was blocked because 2 tracks had collided and it lasted about half an hour to remove them from the road...We were fearing we wouldn't arrive on time. We did, thank God.

There we met Mrs Maghiari of Mediguard Kennel, Emma's breeder, Ioana Miricescu of FISO Royal House Kennel, our friend and Emma's handler for the show (big thanks to both of you!!!!!!!!!!!!) Lory and George, our friends of Nobila Casa Kennel, Simona Damian of Parmen Auriu Kennel and Radu Serban of Hidalgo's Spirit Kennel. Also other Golden Retriever owners and people we usually meet at dog shows :) All wonderful people, we had a great time together. Phil loved As (Asterix, I do not recall his official name) for his attitude and lovely temperament. He also did well at the show!

The show went well, thank you Ms Giura and Ms Gheorghiu for the lovely words for Emma!: "lovely head, gorgeous expression, lovely eyes, set well, well set and carried ears, excellent angulations", Exc 1

Everything went well till we hit the road back. We had left Pitesti, went through Bucharest, but on the highway we had the nastiest problem :our engine had problems, smoke was coming out of it. We stopped at every gas station to try to fix it. We looked for a car mechanic, but it was Saturday evening so no one was available. We were warned though that our engine could catch fire. We were not comfortable with the idea, Emma was leashed all the way back home so that in the event we had to leave the car,she would be ready to leave in a hurry. We arrived home very late, it was past 10 pm. All the joy from the show had disappeared because of this nasty technical issue.

PS Emma insisted on sitting in my lap with all her 30+ kg. Both ways, so my muscles ache from her sitting on me for such a long time :D

PPS: I got the most wonderful compliment from both judges!!!! That Emma was perfectly groomed!!!!! When I told them I was just a beginner their eyes popped out "Reallyyyy?Amazing!"

A perfect day ruined from early morning

http://www.radio.cz/en/article/114189

http://www.docuinter.net/en/net_archive.php?id=563

Before you ask me how, I'd have to tell you HBO and the Czechs doing the film did an amazing job!

I feel immense bitterness, and the feeling of awkwardness is overwhelming. I wish I hadn't seen this documentary. "Welcome to North Korea" is not for the fainthearted, nor for someone ignorant of history. But it is a documentary worth watching!

Some tourists from the Czech Republic( former communist country) visit North Korea, the totalitarian regime that has perfected its fear-inducing techniques. Orwell's novels 1984 and Animal Farm are kids' stories compared to what is going on in this communist country.

The country is depressing through its communist-type buildings, through its incredibly oppressing atmosphere. The Czechs felt watched and spied on at every step. A wrong action undertaken by them would have lead to their guides being punished, probably thrown in a concentration camp or even worse, killed. Things like these happen in such regimes. Innocent people disappear without a trace just because someone thought they said/did something wrong. Politically wrong. Freedom of speech does not exist there. The closest image I have in mind for anyone who has not experienced communism are concentration camps in World War II.

Oh and the blackouts. They cut electricity in order to...I don't know, save it, or induce more fear...But the horrible statues and mausoleums dedicated to communism have plenty of lights. So I'd take my second guess - they cut electricity to induce more fear.

Food. I don't know how the heck, but food has been a problem in most communist countries, due to poor administration of crops. Well in North Korea the situation is tragic, and probably the worst possible.

The feeling of anger and deep frustration is still overwhelming, even if some hours passed since I have seen this documentary. I feel like I took an imaginary trip to hell, the deepest pits of hell.

Happy Birthday, grandpa!

We had lots of fun with my grandpa, grandma and my aunt! Played a lot, grandpa took me for a lot of walks, too! Those were bonus for my regular walks, but I never say no to a walk. And I got lots of treats because it was grandpa's birthday! The treats have been approved by mom :D

Wove you, grandpa! Big time!

Smuggler busted!

I suppose everyone is familiar with the love Golden Retrievers have for sticks. Throw them and they will fetch them, and when they get tired they start chewing on sticks. Emma is fanatic when it comes to sticks. She even carries one during walks, when we go out or come back home, etc. But the rule is "no sticks in the house" so she drops it at the door.

Well today I thought I really placed it outside, near the door. But as soon as we got in the house, Emma fled to the bedroom. I know she loves our bed so I assumed she wanted to take a nap. But something told me there is something fishy about her behavior, so I went to check. The stick was there, and she was chewing on it :D Smuggler busted!

And then her daddy told me "come on, her stick is like internet for us, it's her joy and pleasure, her hobby, give it back to her and we will clean after" No wonder she is daddy's girl!

Mom, how could you????

It was already late night when we left the park. So you understand why it happened.

So when the time came for us to leave, Mrs Pavel and mom were still talking and we took off for a final running round. Mom called Emma, "I" showed up, mom was talking to Mrs Pavel and didn't even look when she put the collar around my neck...And suddenly Mrs Pavel starts calling Blanca, tail wave....tail wave. ...Guess what? Mom had Blanca!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG COME ON, CAN'T YOU EVEN LOOK, MOM!?!?!?!?!?!? I finally came and...oh well, the last is irrelevant. Both mom and Mrs Pavel were laughing because they did not realize Blanca came, not me!

So this brings me to : MOM HOW COULD YOU???

Present: new duck v1

When mom came home from work, I was asleep. But oh was I happy to see she got something for me! A DUCK!

Photos

And a video:

The duck is called duck v1 (as in version1) because that duck got rid of the nice ribbon and the flower is ...well...a bit chewed up.

Pics of Emma sleeping :)

Could not help myself, but the photos were a bit ruined by the fact I had to use the flashlight in spite of bright daily light in the room. Emma woke up :(

The bed belongs to her by the way. She sleeps on it mainly during the day. At night she prefers our bed, or when she gets too hot she sleeps next to our bed, by my side :)

Playing with a toddler :)

The baby was younger than me, just 1 year old (I am a month older than him hehe) and nearly as tall as me. Needless to say he even fed me, much to the delight of his grandparents and mom, who were just awwwwwwww and ohhhhhhhhh seeing how cute we interacted. I payed maximum attention how to get the small bits of food from his tiny tiny hands! Mom knew I do this, and the grandpa of the kid remarked a human could not get food so gentle!!!!! I was extremely praised for how well behaved I was!

When mom leashed me to go home, the baby grabbed her hand and wanted to leave with us! He could not say Emma but he was calling me "mama".

And this brings us to another point - mom forgot to bring camera for the nth time! Geez. Short term memory loss, eh?

Celebrating a year since Emma became a member of our family

And what a year it has been!
We are forever grateful to Mrs And Mr Maghiari of Mediguard Kennel for giving us the most adorable puppy ever!

Emma is perfect, she is our little princess, spoiled not just by us, but by everyone (or almost everyone) she meets! She is extremely friendly, she loves to be petted and she loves to play football, fetch, tug-of-war, search the toy/treat, but most of all she loves to cuddle up with us.

My first major thunderstorm

I think :)

Well it sounded very very loud most of the times. Did I care? Yes, I was curious at first. Then I played with mom, but it was getting late so I fell asleep. I could not care less about loud thunders.

Ooopsssssssss I am grounded (again)

Well everything was going on fine. It was our morning walk, we played fetch in the park. and then mom gave me a break from fetch. I went into some bushes and mom called me right away. But nooo I was rolling into something. Mom leashed me right away, and called me a pig. The smell was unbearable for her. Must have been something dead by the horrible stench. She took me home and gave me a bath. And called me pig numerous times haha. I really don't understand the big fuss.

So I am grounded. By this I think they mean they will ignore me for a while :D I wonder how much they can resist - it's usually a few hours. Or I won't be off leash for a walk in the park or so :D We'll see ;)

Lazyyyyyyy

Soooo

Play date with Athos and Blanca. Mom was trying to make us all run and chase each other. No chance. 0 chance. Nada. We preferred to sit and chew on sticks. So in the end mom ran more than we, and Athos' and Blanca's owners were laughing that perhaps they would rather run than the dogs. Shame on us they said hehe.

Beach time again, we have an entire schedule!

Well you might have noticed that I am taken to the beach very often :)

Much to my delight, of course :)

Oh well, mom and grandpa made an entire schedule for me, just to take me swimming. They saw how much I enjoy it, and that it helps build muscles, it helps joints develop and it's great fun! We also have a 6 km or so trip to and from the beach, so it's not only swimming, but also long walks.

Today I was so thrilled to discover the sweet girl I met some days ago came running to me screaming EMMA :) We had lots of fun. Mom also brought me my floating freesby and a stick.

Here we go again!

HURRAY....weather cleared and we're heading to the beach!!!!!!!! Yesterday it rained so heavily that we didn't want to go to the beach (humans hate getting wet when it's cold :D ). So off we go again!!!!!!

We thought today will be like yesterday - it was raining in the morning. Hopefully it stays clear until we return.

Later edit:
Hurray, we went at the beach!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had a blast, mom and grandpa provided entertainment by throwing me sticks. Mom got in so that she could throw sticks in deeper water so I swim. We had lots of fun, I was sometimes running out of water to check if grandpa was ok. And grandpa brought me something yummy :ICE CREAM. Thank you grandpa, wove you big time!

Another day at the beach

Well no camera today, sorry.
It was a sand storm anyhow, and even if we don't spend any time on the beach, just in water, we ended up full of sand.

I learned that if I jump around like a goat, I can make huge splashes of water. I looked at some guys who were entering the water, saw how they did it, and I started to jump around, too. They loved it so much that they just went in and out of water just to laugh at how I jump around.

Then a sweet girl came and asked if she could play with me. Of course! She got wet (I shook myself ONLY in a human's presence, they must love water splashes! I do) but she laughed and threw sticks in water for me to retrieve.

So I had a blaaaaaaaast at the beach today, in spite of the nasty sand blown by the wind.

http://goldenretrievers.forumotion.com/golden-retriever-photos-videos-f4/emma-t13-10.htm#376

We had a blast today, again! The dog you hear crying after me is a sweet German Shepherd bitch pretty much about my age, she went into the sea after she saw me. What a sweet girl!

You can see some videos if you follow the link. We're too lazy to upload/ copy paste links here.

PS Even if it was just my 4th time to the beach, I was anxious to get into the water, so as soon as I was released from my leash, off I went!

Playing football

Today some people were playing football on the field. Oh well, when their ball landed near me I left MY STICK to chase it. I eventually stole it from them but mom made me give it back and apologized. The reason why mom is surprised it that I left the stick I was chewing to pursue the ball. Of course, I chase whatever moves. And I think it's mine :D

Show ring training is getting better. And I will go to beach tomorrow. Hopefully mom won't forget the camera :D

Beach fun

Yesterday and today I was taken to the beach!!!!!!! First I was reluctant to enter the sea, I think I didn't like the waves. Eventually mom got in, just to encourage me to follow. We had fun yesterday but today I had a blast!!!!!!!!! Kids came to play with me, lots of them. I played fetch with them, then they were calling me from one to another just to make me swim.

Yesterday I also jogged with mom on the fine sand!!!!!!! today I played fetch with kids. I don't know how they managed to find sticks, mom couldn't :D Thank you sweet kids for playing with me!!!!!!!!!! I love it big time :)

I went to grandpa to make sure he is ok, he was waiting on the sand. Then zoooooooom around in water!!!!!!!!! I was praised by everyone, and made people go ohhhhhh and ahhhhhhhh about me.

I also begged ;) People can't resist me. But they can't go over mom, she doesn't let anyone give me treats. Oh well...She gives me lots of treats because I am such a good girl. And she praises me a looooooooot.

Oh and I wanted to hug mom in water (ok ok, I was afraid for a moment, deep water) and I accidentally scratched her. Pretty bad. Still mom laughed and encouraged me to go back and assured me there is nothing wrong with deep water. So offffffffffffff I went, and loved it big time, mom was praising me like I was landing on the Moon or Mars!!!!!!!!!

Sooooooooooooooo mom, grandpa, when are you taking me again? I love long walks (except mad strays that are everywhere) I love swimming, I love fetching in water, I love attention from people on the beach (yes, I know, no treats from them) Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

PS I know they are taking me again, they have an entire schedule planned for my beach time! Mom hasn't been in the sea for a loooong time, but she goes now just for my sake.

As soon as the water gets warmer, she will swim with me :) For now, she didn't get too wet (oh well I made sure she did, hehe, but she laughed).

And no pics for now sowwy. Yesterday mom said she wanted to focus on me only, no camera. And today she forgot to pack it.

Targoviste dog show, May 9th 2009

My first dog show!!!!!!!!

Mom says I did perfect, but she made some handling mistakes in the ring and I got Exc 2 as a result. But mom congratulated me for working perfect in a scorching heat! After that, when I was extremely tired, we did a small freestyle demonstration for some friends. They applauded us!

Mom told me I did so well and she is heartbroken for those mistakes.

After that, a kid was working with his Romanian Shepherd Dog who was taller than the kid, tired, and refused to work. I was extremely tired too, yet mom offered to help by letting the kid work with me for his junior handling competition. She also offered to let him show me. The kid was in heaven, I heel perfectly and I worked great with him. His parents had scolded him so heavily that he was almost in tears, that's when mom stepped in, and offered our help. The kid was ecstatic after having worked with me. He sat near me and hugged me, kissed me and asked his parents to show me. It didn't happen, they left. I am sorry for the very young kid, he was 7.

I don't know if you remember, but mom had a serious ankle problem and we had to stop our conformation training for a while . These days we have resumed our training!!!!!!! There is nothing better than working with mom, looooooooooove it! And she looooooooooooves working with me because I am such a nice girl.

I received a ton of praises today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I know the ankle still hurts a bit, but since we looooooove working together, we started anyhow.

Getting asked a very annoying question

Oh well, before I tell you what the question is I need to tell you most people here think a pedigree is dog food...Erm..yeah.

Emma is a show puppy (May 9th first show) and I keep getting asked a stupid question - am I getting her spayed? Geez, no. It's ironical on one hand, so many mixes having pups (I totally disapprove of this, of course) and so many irresponsible people breeding or thinking about breeding their poorly bred dogs (some not even pure breeds). I am the first one to blame irresponsible breeding and not spaying/neutering a dog that should never produce a litter.

But now it's really getting on my nerves. First time I was asked I was "Whaaaaat...no.." and laughed. Now it doesn't seem so funny.

Anyhow I am not even thinking any further before I hear some good judges' opinions of her.

Begging

Oh well, it is an established fact that I beg. Well, it's more than that, I am top teacher at Begging University! I have many styles of begging, of course. Lately I can also sing as part of the begging. Mom tried to capture that singing, unfortunately I saw the camera and stopped. Oh well...

Hopefully soon you will get to see&hear me singing!

Earthquake

I was sleeping under mom's chair, she was sitting at her desk. And suddenly a friend (closer to the epicenter) wrote "earthquake" and then mom felt it,too. She told me Emma COME, took me to the safest place in the house and told me to stay.

I have never before executed commands so fast. I work fast, but this time I was sleeping! In a fraction of a second we were in the safest place, and mom kept petting me. I was fine though. It only lasted for a few seconds here, but it was a 5.3 on Richter Scale.

We called everyone, nothing happened, of course, but some (very close to the epicenter) were pretty shaken. Oh well...we can't control nature :)

Under the weather

Last evening and most night I was feeling sick, so I kept mom and dad up all night. And gave them a pain in the *** with the pills I had to swallow. Needless to say I won :D.

I am feeling ok now, so it's not big deal, but they really freak out each time.

Monday, April 13, 2009

Hurray

I am not grounded anymore, on condition I obey commands, the moment I hesitate, I am leashed, but I have learned my lesson. I know that I am not allowed in a particular area where someone didn't pick up their dog's poop.

So today I got to play with lots of kids, some new ones who are afraid of dogs, but they absolutely loved to play with me. I am not surprised at their reaction (fear) because there are so many aggressive strays here. Moreover, a lot of dogs are poorly socialized even if they have a family.

An hour later or so Blanca came too. We put up a show and kids were laughing heavily. We both love them, Blanca is such a wonderful girl, sweet and playful.

I fooled mom today haha because she told me we were only going out for like 10 or 15 min, and we ended up staying more than two hours. So far, we got to spend 3-4 hours outside and it's just noon time. Oh well, I can't complain, but I know mom is tired like hell and also ran with me a lot despite of having a very nasty cold :(

We work together a lot and we love it big time but I wish mom got over this very nasty cold. Yesterday she could barely walk.

I know, I know.....:D

So you read about my bath yesterday because I rolled in mud while playing with Blanca. Well today I got a 3rd bath in 3 or 4 days because I did something that my humans don't like. I rolled in poop. Whaaaaaaa? You don't like it? Come on, it was fun. I still have my Golden smile all over my face, that's how funny it was! And come on, Blanca did the same!

Mom kept telling me on the street that I am a pig, not a Golden Retriever, and that I stink like hell. OH really? I loooooooove the smell!

PS I also ate. Blanca did, too, we shared it! Funny, because we don't share stuff like that, today we did. We really can't understand our families, what's the big deal?

Also, our dear friend Hugo had his second hand food :D Yep, he ate poop. His own at least :D What Blanca and I ate was NOT ours hahaha.

I am grounded! Help.

PS today Mr Liviu took me in the school to the principal. You know we prefer the park of the nearby school so I was taken to the vice-principal. Not for bad behavior, the reason was that people love me and Blanca. Both Blanca and I were inside the school. This happened BEFORE I rolled in poop :D

I guess you know what a Golden Retriever does very well when it rains.

As a consequence mom turned me into a little jedi:

And she thought it would be funny if she took a photo. Oh well...the nerve! To embarrass me in front of the whole world...
